My Trip to the Salon – Valentines Day 2009

Yesterday I went to the salon , located in Stockbridge Michigan for some much needed pampering, it was a fantastic trip with many delights. Kim & Company

The day started out rough; I was stressed about getting out my current blog and snapping at my mom which did not start us off right (plus I was my normal procrastinating self and was racing around at the last minute with dressing and breakfast). The Salon I went to was offering a special of bring a friend and each of You get 50 % off services, so my mom went with me. She recieved a haircut and express pedicure. While I recieved haircut, express manicure and full carribian pedicure. I was getting the works done and I deserved it after the last few months.

My hairstylist was pretty good and although theres times I see the haircut and not sure what she was thinking I can see how it is appealing, just not what I’m used to ( but hey we all need a change ). Next was the manicure where I found out I have naturally squared nails I had always tried to make them round. My stylist managed to talk me into getting a french manicure and it looks real nice.

Finally I had my foot treatment from my regular hairstylist Veronica who is my favorite, although all the stylist there are good, I’ve been going to this salon since I was in 5th grade, alot of good memories there. including my prom hair thanks to robin. I got a parafin wax for the feet (the water was hot but the treatment was good ). I decided to make my nails a frosted pink ( hot pink & glitter white). Hope you have a great valentines day and enjoyed reading about my spa experience, please comment and share your beauty tips and experiences.

Have Beautiful Sensitive Skin – Feb 21,09

I found today’s article in the March 2009 issue of Health Magazine I have a subscription to this magazine and am able to find lots of helpful articles and interesting articles to read. Author Abbie Kozolchyk
Even if your skin was once a total sport no matter what you subjected it to-harsh climates, ingredient du-jour creams, even tanningbeds times have likely changes. Changes are at some point you’ve suffered from redness, itching, flaking, and stinging.
Truth is, sensitivity which affects 56% of us increases with age. Skin become on average 10% drier each decade after the age of 20, according to Doris Day, MD a New Yor City based dermatologist which is part of the Health Expert Network. Dryness and sensitivity are often intimately linked. “The cells that form your skin’s outermost layer work as a two way barrier, keeping moister in and the outside world out,” said Dr Day. The less moisture your skin retains, the weater the cellular barrier and the more irritants that muscle their way in. It doesn’t help that as we get older we tend to add more powerful ingredients into our skin care mix. Any one of these products may cause irritation, but used together they’re all the more likely to do so. There’s no need to toss lall your anti aging products away. These simple tweeks to your beauty routine should make your skin a whole lot more resilient and whichever at home measures you choose, see a dermatoligist if irritation persist for more than a few weeks.
WHAT TO ADD
truely gentle makeup-look for “hypoallergenic” in makeup it means that the product has been shown to cause fewer   allergic creations. Mineral Makeup tend to be gentle on     sensitive   skin.      A Second Moisterizer after  shower- first layer should be   applied to damp skin, the next to dry skin a few minutes      later for an extra boost. You can use the same product   it should contain humectants(agents that bind water to skin)    Special Treatment at Night- studies have shown that   women lose moe water from their skin at night, so use    not only prevent water loss but also add moisture.    The Right UV Protection-Chemical sunscreens such as those  containing parsol and benezophenones can irritate skin. Zinc    and titanium based physical sunplack that sit on the skin’s    surface are your best bet.                                                                                     (Sorry this is a day late saturday was a busy day for me but I am writing my blog now)  Today’s blog material comes from CBN ’s Living The Life which the full version of this article can be found here article written by Tammy Bennett of Makeover Ministries(http://www.cbn.com/livingthelife/features/dailylife/bennett_updatestyle.aspx

Keep These Style Tips in Mind

  • Shop smart. Don’t pay retail unnecessarily. Shop discount stores where you can save 50 percent or more off the suggested retail price. Modernize your existing wardrobe by adding new accessories – a trendy new necklace, eye-catching earrings, a fashionable belt, or a stylish new hair accessory. Add your own bling to jeans, bags, t-shirts…etc. Beads, buttons, ribbons and patches can bring new life to old styles. Shop your local craft store for ideas. Make an appointment with your hair stylist for a cool new cut and style. Search magazine for a hairdo that will look great on you, work with your hair type, and be easy for you to style once you get home. Update your makeup with new lipstick, nail polish, and eye shadow colors.

Why Your Stylist Loves You

By Erin Snyder Dixon

www.ErinSnyderDixon.blogspot.com

Recently, I made the statement that I have some of the best clients on the planet. She stopped me and asked what made those clients so wonderful. After thinking about it for a moment, I let her know some of what I’m going to share with you.I love my clients because they honor my time by showing up for their appointments on time or a few moments early. By doing this, I can stay on time for all of the clients, thereby honoring everyone else’s time. They call ahead if they think there may be a problem with the schedule.I love my clients because they only send me clients who are a good fit. They don’t send me the unreliable friend who switches salons every week and is never happy with anything, much less her hair or nails. Likewise, they don’t send me clients with unruly or destructive kiddos.I love my clients because when I’m feeling a bit stressed they don’t push for the personal details of my life.  The same thing holds true of other clients. Everyone respects the boundary of privacy.I love my clients because from time to time they will bring me goodies like lunch, fresh produce from their garden, or the bottle of polish they know they will never use. Oh yeah, they all pass the coupon circulars on to me when they have clipped what they want.I love my clients because we swap good books from time to time.I love my clients because they trust my professional opinion and take care to protect our relationship. These are just six of the things that will really impress me. They may not be the same things that affect all beauty pros.

I use alot of Mary Kay products, one of my good friends is a consultant. I love, and so does my skin, the skin care treatment set.
And I voted for dying my hair at home……and that would be a never again experience for me (smile)
