Thrusdays just got a new theme, True story Thursday where I will take either a news article or some other true story I find and give my take on it and share it with you . Today’s story comes from Yahoo News in Denver.
INJURED GOOD SAMARITAN GETS TICKETED
A good Samaritan who helped push three people out of the path of a pickup truck before being struck and injuredhas gotten a strange reward for his good deed: A jaywalking ticket.Family members said 58-year-old bus driver Jim Moffett and another man were helping two elderly women cross a busy Denver street in a snowstorm when he was hit Friday night.
Moffett suffered bleeding in the brain, broken bones, a dislocated shoulder and a possible ruptured spleen. He was in serious but stable condition Wednesday. The Colorado State Patrol issued the citation. Trooper Ryan Sullivan said that despite Moffett’s intentions, jaywalking contributed to the accident.
Moffett had been driving his bus when the two women got off. In the interest of safety, he got out and, together with another passenger, helped the ladies cross.Moffett’s stepson, Ken McDonald, said the driver of the pickup plowed into his stepfather, but not before Moffett pushed the two women out of the way.
When he awoke in intensive care, he learned of the ticket. “His reaction was dazed and confused. I was a little angry,” said McDonald. The other man also was cited for jaywalking, while the pickup driver was cited with careless driving that led to injury. Sullivan said the two elderly women haven’t been cited but the investigation is ongoing
Yes I understand that the cop was doing his job, but this Moffet was seriously injured just for doing a good deed, and what about the driver who hit him. He should have slowed down or swearved to avoid instead of hitting straight on. Moffett did a good deed by risking his life to help the elderly and this is the thanks he gets.
3-16 FIGHT OR FLIGHT
Recently I’ve been dealing with teeth issues, now I will need some surgeries to correct these problems. Including a root canal with crown and extraction with implant. Neither of these are easy procedures and its worse on a nervous type like me. The dentist has given me a prescription for Vallium to calm these nerves of mine and make their job alot easier.
I looked up Fight or Flight (yes its real, not just a myth) what I found was intesting :
About.com says body’s response to perceived threat or danger. During this reaction, certain hormones like adreneline and cortisol are released, speeding the heart rate, slowing digestion, shunting blood flow to major muscle groups, and changing nervous functions giving the body a burst of energy and strength
This responce is catagorized under Post Tramatic Stress Sydnrome with the following symptoms :Having recurrent nightmares,Making an effort to avoid thoughts, feelings, or conversations about event,Feeling constantly “on guard” or like danger is lurking around every corner. Being “jumpy” or easily startled. (the complete list of symptoms is avaiable at about.com)
Bringing myself back to my main topic I get these feelings whenever I am around dentists, eye doctors and doctors in general. I fight them and resist any form of pain.
Once I had to be held down to get my eyes dialated ( I fought back that much and resisted the eyedrops), at the ER when they needed to put a needle to my throut as soon as I saw the needle I pulled away; plus at the dentist I was a wreak . The funny thing about all this is when I was growing up I would option to have the drill instead of the shots (my feet would shoot straight up while I was drilled)
As I’ve gotten older and more sensitive I have chosen the safer route to avoid pain at all cost, to a point where I would rather avoid things than get them taken care of. Sometimes we do that in life avoid things that need to be taken care of because we are worried about the outcome. If you have a tough choice to make or have been avoiding something just get it over with and face your fears.

This week we lost a true talented actress who was admired and adored by family, friends and her fans. Natasha Richardson was 45 and was injured while sking in Quebec. My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to her family.

Natasha Jane Richardson was born May 11, 1963 in London to Actress Vanessa Redgrave and Director Tony Richardson in London. In addition her aunt Lynn Redgrave and sister Joely Richardson are both actresses. Her screen debut was at 4 as a flower girl in The Charge of he Light Birgade directed by her father.
I`ve played comedy
before but not that much. I mostly do get drawn to darker material.
She studied at the London School of Speech and Drama and was an experienced stage actress by her 20s.In 1987 she played Tracey Lord in Richard Eyre’s musical “High Society”. She performed the title role of “Anna Christie”, first in London, where she was voted London Drama Critics’ Best Actress Award in 1992, then on Broadway at the Roundabout in 1993, where she was nominated for a Tony for Best Actress in a Play, a Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut, the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Debut of an Actress, and a Drama Desk nomination for Best Actress. For her performance as Sally Bowles in Sam Mendes‘ production of “Cabaret”, she won the 1998 Tony, Outer Critics Circle, Drama League and Drama Desk Awards for Best Actress in a Musical. She then appeared on Broadway in Patrick Marber’s Tony-nominated play “Closer”. This December she will play “Miss Julie” on Broadway with Philip Seymour Hoffman, directed by David Leveaux for Roundabout Theatre.
She was briefly married to producer Robert Fox. Then married Actor Liam Neeson whom she shared two sons with Michael and Daniel Neeson. She is best known by audiences for her role in the remake of the Parent Trap in 1998.

Hey everypawty its Olive lorrie’s cat , since my meowsy is out working out I am taking over this blog. I wanta tell my stowy which I swear is as good as a soap opawa, I WANT COMMENTS PEEPS cause im I deserve it after all I been through.
My stowy starts before I was born with my grandma Jamie and my aunts and cat mom. My grandma Jamie was so meant to be a bond girl for cats ( she was adventerous and quite the romancer). She came and at first my meowsy thout that she was a boy and named her James but once she had my aunts and uncles she was soon renamed Jamie. Those kids came from her first affair which was with Blackie Sr down the road. My uncle patches looked just like him . The first family included Gracie, Blackie, Sassy, Patches and my aunt Jackie.
After awhile my grandma Jamie met her soul kitty mate Simon who was my cat mom’s dad, pure grey and he was the protector of the family. He would chase off any male within 10 feet of my grandma. He even chased off all the males in our family ( I bet he sure loved his harem). At one time there was 13 cats in my family before I was born.

My aunt Jackie is the 2nd generation of the Kitty line, she was such a diva with an attitude totaly gorgeous with black lined eyes, I think she got into meowmy’s mascara or eyeliner. She had the male kittys constantly after her, and um she had an affair with my uncle Patches and they had two kids, sugar and spice . unfortunatly sugar met here end by a car. Spice and Jackie were then taken to a farm nearby spice never returned but Jackie returned a week later. Meowsy was thrilled to see her ( she adowes her so much shes her snugglebunny). My aunt Jackie took off last year after another kitty chased her off and my meowsy was hawrtbroken when she left but she has me. Jackie was like a mom to met since mine took off.
My cat mom was Moppsie a pure light grey kitty but then as soon as I was weaned she took off wth my stray daddy. Jackie was then left to raise me as hers, what a superkitty.

Now its my turn to tell my tale, I was born 2 years ago to the world and was first thought of was a boy (meowsy isn’t that bright sometimes) then she checked my privates can we say emberrawsing and found out I was a girl. I was named Olive but Ollie is my nickname. I had a romance with Buddy Cassanova who lived down the road, I love him so much he is my world, never realized why he didn’t stay with me. My aunt Jackie and meowsy hated him , to them he meant kids and I did not need that.
Well secertly we did the deed and I lost my first kid but then after my aunt took off I was a wreak, I missed her so I hooked up with Buddy again and this time I got knocked up big time. You think we have a happily ever after right, wrong! No sooner I have my kids then his wife Veronica Cassanova (pure white persian) shows up and slaps me and then gets in a knockout drag out fight with buddy. Meowsy scared them off but I’m left with a shiner on my eye.
Yes we are still seeing each other I love him and I can’t give him up despite the fact that hes cheating on his wife and that he will never leave her, he sneaks over to be with me every chance he gets. So thats my tale I expect to get my meowsy comments and I loved coming on her and blabbing my story.

The Locator Review
Theres a great show on WE (womens Entertainment) which helps reunite family members after years of being apart, now in its 2nd season its changed the lives of many.
The Show is about a private investigator Troy Dunn who reunites familys at the request of someone: father, mother, son, brother, sister etc. All of these cases are true and some of the stories that are shown on this show are amazing and whats greater are the results. This show touches lives and changes them for the better.
Dunn works with his mother and his investigation team to do the research that is needed, they use all the resources avaiable to them including: address records, schools, relatives, work places or any other clues they have that might tie in to the case. The thing I like the best is that once he has reunited the families he slips off and lets them reconnect. One episode from last season is touching to any mother:
Angel Fox from Tacoma, Wash., gave birth to identical twins, Tyler and Taylor Neil, when she was just 16 years old. After her marriage to their father (who was 24 years old her senior) broke up, he gained custody of the children. Angel visited regularly for the first three years of their lives, but then moved to Eugene, Ore., after their third birthday and was unable to maintain the same level of contact. Months later, she learned that Jack had moved the family, taking the children to an undisclosed location. . All she could hear was the voices of her boys repeating the words they’d spoken the last time she’d seen them, “Mommy, come back.” The Twins were found in Washington and reunited with their mother
The Show also features Angel Cases ,this Angel Case usually comes to Troy because there is an urgent need to find someone and because she has exhausted all other possible avenues. The Angel Case meeting begins with Troy’s staff presenting him with three to four potential cases and after a brief discussion, Troy decides which challenge he wants to take on. On his way out of the meeting, Troy assigns specific tasks to his staff members to streamline the search process. One such Angel Case was that of Katie:
Adopted when she was a baby, Katie grew up in Minnesota and has always wanted to meet her
birth family. She knows that her birth mother’s name is Kathy and that she had two other girls: Portia and Alicia.believes that finding her birth family will help her answer some lingering questions she has about her background. Now an independent woman at 29 years old, Katie lives in Scottsdale, Ariz., and is studying criminology and aspires to become a crime-scene investigator.
Kathy Anderson – Kathy put her daughter for adoption 28 years ago. She was actually 16 years old at the time of Katie’s birth, not 14 (as Katie has been told). Kathy now has two other daughters: Portia and Alicia. She owns her own business in Garland, Tex
Not only did Katie gain her birth mother, but also her real father and two full blooded sister ( a whole family in one day)This information is from the WE page for The Locator at http://www.wetv.com/the-locator/index.php and he is also on Twitter at @TheLocator
Health- I’m addicted to facebook
This article is from the May issue of Health magazine at Health.com written by Megan Mccafferty who is an author of 5 novels that have made the New York Times Best Sellers List her latest work “Perfect Fifths(Crown)” is come out this month.I know this is health magazine and should be on health but I read this article in the most recent issue and could not pass up posting it, its funny and a great article.
I was 10 minutes late taking my son to kindergarten this morning. Facebook! I blame Facebook! ok I blame myself for succumbing to this social-networking phenomenon described as “addictive and my life line” by a few of my online friends. But my Facebook dependency is better compared with my relationship with a certain brand of diet soda; I can survive without it but why oh why would I want to? If you are one of the 175 million people who are on Facebook, you’re probably nodding your head in ashamed commiseration.
For years I ralied against Facebook and its ilk, arguing that it fostered fake friendships and virtual connections rather than geunine ones. But when it seemed like everyone was asking me “Why aren’t you on Facebook?” I gave into peer pressure and quickly became a fanatic. The truth is Facebook serves as a ideal procrastination tool for me. (the only thing a writer enjoys more than writing is finding creative excuses to avoid writing). Case in Point: between writing that last paragraph and this one, I spent 1 hour and 22 minutes on Facebook. What did I do? I updated my status-”Megan is on Facebook instead of writing her essay for Health magazine about Facebook”, I gushed over adorable photos of my adorable neice, I discovered my neighbor has a migrane and a former co-worker had met Fabio. I laughed out loud at a list of “25 things I didn’t know about my cousin in law” – I get stage fright at urinals.
To an outsider, this probably sounds like 82 minutes of nothing. But at least half of these virtual interactions inspired real conections that may have not otherwise occured. For example, I asked my neighbor how her head was when I saw her putting out the garbage. It goes both ways. When I ran ito a Facebook real life “crossover” friend. she responded to my status update by asking if she could help with this essay. So if Facebook ” a great way to keep in touch or “a way to avoid acutual communications” as two more online friends defined it. Wel according oto a recent University of California, Los Angeles , report its both ” the cost may be the devaluing of real friendships and the reducation of face to face interaction.” says Patricia Greenfield, an expert in developmental psychology and media effects quoted in the study ” THere are more relationships but also more superfictial relationships”
If you ask me. that still amounts to a net gain. Everyone I’ve asked agrees that Facebook is fantastic for staying in touch with far flung friends and family. Moreover, it gives us all brief, but sprisingly touching snapshots of our loved ones day to day lives. I personally appreciate it as a forum in which readers can their thier thoughts about my work. ( Hey if you like this essay, just friend me!) The site has greatly strengthened bonds in both my virtual and real worlds. But if I had to choose betwen culivating relationships on Facebook vs real life, its no contest. A laptop can’t ofer me a second slice or bannana bread, laugh out loud at my jokes or hug me back.
I still feel bad about arriving late to school today, and I vow not to let Facebook take precedence over my personal or professional responsiblities in the future. But I will no longer feel guilty about my Facebook “me time”. I know just the place to go for support I just became the 2,600th member of a Facebook group “Not now, Honey, Mommy’s Facebooking…”
This weekend is a 3 day weekend but its also much more than that its a time to remember those who were lost their lives in the war , those who have served in the past and those men and women who are currently serving our country and helping us stay free here.

Ways to support Military Wives by Jocelyn Green Guest Columnist CBN News
http://www.cbn.com/family/familyadvice/Green_MilitaryFamilies.aspx?WT.mc_id=pm_MemorialDay2009
Get your church involved
With record numbers of troops deployed or returned from the current war, most churches are in a perfect position to minister to families of either Active Duty, Reserves, or National Guard service members. Here are just a few ways to provide reinforcements
Send reverse care packages. Send care packages to the deployed members, and “reverse” care packages to the families on the home front. If possible, find out through email from the deployed spouse what he’d like his wife and children to have for special holidays such as Mother’s Day, Valentine’s Day, birthdays, Christmas, etc. These are all days when a husband and father’s absence is felt the most keenly. Then make sure his family gets these items on the special days—whether it’s a gift card to Starbucks or a local spa, movie tickets or something else. Reverse care packages are a great way to serve that family and support the marriage, too.
Honor the troops. Watch the calendar and honor the troops around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Veteran’s Day with special breakfasts for them or at least a mention from the pulpit. Show military members and their families (veterans included) that they are special
Fix what’s broken. Find out what’s broken and fix it—or help tide her over until a professional can make the repair. If her computer is down, let her use yours to email her spouse. If the washing machine is on the fritz, let her do a few loads at your house this week. If the car stopped running, offer to give (or arrange) rides
Pray Pray for the one serving our country overseas, but also pray for those serving at home—the spouse and children. Pray for the entire family even after the spouse returns home, too! That re-entry adjustment period is often just as stressful as deployment.
Happy Memorial day everyone and thank you to all of our serving troups and those who have served, on a side note Army Wives will be returning next month.
Today I did a major accomplishment for me, I competed in a 5K ( 3 mile) walk/run event. I walked the 3 mile course through stockbridge. The path wound through downtown stockbridge and back to the high school track.
Along the way I saw people I knew people from school and church. They were encouraging and helped me keep going even when the course got tiring. When I started the walk I was in 5th place and my competitive nature was in high gear, but God had other plans for me, he showed me that it doesn’t matter what place I was in but that I finished the walk and did it.
He finally got his point across when several people passed me taking me out of the top 10, but I am proud of myself I did around 15 min at each mile marker and finished the walk in 49 min, placing me as the 15th place walker( so thats in the top 20 walkers).
To me this is an accomplishment because to walk that far and also with my ankle injury it was a miracle to me just to be walking again and be able to withstand that much walking. Its been a uphill battle that I’m winning with my injury. each day I get stronger and able to be a new improved me who is more active and able to accomplish things.

Whatever happened to good old-fashioned common sense? Jaywalking is about the most inoffensive infraction of the law there is, and believe it or not, the officer does have leeway in writing such a ticket. It could be worse: you could be married to this officer!!
This was a sweet tribute. I was so shocked by what happened to her! Because of my daughters I’ve seen the movie Parent Trap about 50 times and just loved her in it. It was a sad week for her, and I feel so bad for Liam and her children.
Thank you for doing this,
Rebecca
Thanks for your super kind words about our show, The Locator. It is so hard to keep family-friendly tv shows on the air, I always appreciate good people like you who spread the good word!
Best to you, your blog and your readers!
Remember, you can’t find peace until you find all the pieces.
Troy Dunn
Wow- I’m impressed too! Top 20, I would have been crawling in last place. Congrats on a well deserved pat on the back!
